Supporting the Anxious Child

This workshop provides practical strategies to recognise and support behaviours linked to childhood anxiety, understand the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on social–emotional development, and work collaboratively with families to build children’s emotional resilience.

This workshop focuses on practical strategies to support children who present with behaviours that are often associated with feelings of anxiousness. These behaviours can include difficulties separating from caregivers, excessive worrying, reduced communication, reluctance to participate in the general preschool program or resistance to engaging in specific activities.  The workshop will discuss the different ways these feelings can manifest, the impact of COVID -19 on social emotional development and how Educators can work in partnership with parents/carers to support these children and build emotional resilience.

  • Learn how to address inclusion barriers through the use of structure, increased predictability, visual, sensory & emotional regulation supports and Educator engagement

She is a Board Approved Supervisor and currently works with many early childhood and school-based educators to reduce inclusion barriers and develop reflective practice skills. Marina has worked across Australia as well as internationally and is passionate about creating environments which support the needs of those who think and learn differently. She is a strong advocate for person & family centred practice and consults to a variety of organisations. Marina has worked with hundreds of families and professionals over the last 35 years and is a passionate advocate for creating a 'team' around the child to achieve authentic inclusion.
