Supporting Children's Inclusion and Engagement through a Sensory Lens (3-part series)
Today more than ever our pedagogy is being ‘stretched’ by the diverse nature of the learners we support in our services. For many educators our previous training and experience has not equipped us to understand neurodiversity and diverse learning styles.
This is a three-part series focusing on using a sensory lens to support children’s inclusion and engagement.
A sensory lens draws on the principles of emotional regulation and how important it is for children to feel safe and comfortable in order to learn and engage with others. When we understand an individual’s sensory profile, we can then plan learning and the environment to support them to thrive.
