Respectful Toilet Learning (2-Part Series)
In this series, we will unpack the signs of toileting readiness and how to work in partnership with families to sensitively understand their child's experience. We will discuss how to support children to embark on their future independent toileting journey and work through some of the common challenges that children experience in learning how to use the toilet.
Katherine will share videos, unpack practical examples of all care moments that contribute to a considerable part of our days, and actively explore the concept of 'care as curriculum', which she focused on in her MED research.
You will learn how to transform practice from task-based chores to enjoyable moments of care. The workshops conclude with a focus on the role of the educational leader, room leader and future leader and how people in these roles can stimulate professional dialogue and transformative practice in teams.
Learning outcomes:
- Learn about signs of toileting readiness led by the child.
- Unpack how to work in active partnerships in teams and with families towards toileting agreements and toileting success
Recommended audience: Educators and teachers working with, or who have a strong interest in learning about, very young children, aged birth to 3 years.
