This session focuses on strengthening transition-to-school practices across early learning settings. Educators will explore developmentally supportive approaches to prepare children and families for the shift to formal schooling, while building confidence, belonging, and continuity.

This session focuses on strengthening transition-to-school practices across early learning settings. Educators will explore developmentally supportive approaches to prepare children and families for the shift to formal schooling, while building confidence, belonging, and continuity.

In this interactive session, you will:

  • develop a deeper understanding of the emotional experiences children, parents and families, and educators may face during the transition to school, and identify supportive strategies to promote agency, confidence, and a strong sense of identity for their child
  • explore practical approaches to transition planning, including meaningful rituals, early intervention strategies, and ways to build continuity and connection between early learning settings and school communities.

 

Recommended audience: Teachers and educators working with children 3-5 years old and their families.
