Introducing Sensory Profiling

Children’s behaviour tells a story - and understanding sensory processing is key to responding with confidence and care. This session supports educators in better understanding regulation, sensory needs, and how these impact learning, engagement, and wellbeing.

This session builds educator’s understanding of sensory processing and sensory profiles in order to best support children’s learning and engagement.

Children’s behaviours are often closely linked to their level of regulation and perceived safety and this workshop develops educator’s ability to read what might be going on at a sensory level for the children in their care.
We will look at the theory behind sensory processing as well explore practical ways to support children.

In this session, you will

  • Learn about the sensory system and how each individual has a sensory profile that affects their learning and engagement
  • Unpack common behaviours through a sensory lens and explore strategies to support regulation
  • Think critically about the learning environment and how this impacts a child’s sensory profile and their sense of safety and belonging.
