Introducing Arts Practice as a Pedagogical Tool for Thinking
Join Kelly Goodsir for this 1-hour online session exploring arts practice as a powerful pedagogical tool for thinking, meaning-making, and creative expression.
This session introduces arts practice as a powerful pedagogical tool for thinking and meaning-making. It explores how creativity can support educators and children to make working theories visible, moving beyond technical skill to engage with the relational and expressive possibilities of the arts. Grounded in the idea that we teach who we are, this session invites educators to expand their own engagement with the arts, bringing deeper curiosity, confidence, and connection into their practice.
In this session, you will:
- Explore arts practice as a pedagogical tool for thinking, meaning-making, and expression alongside children (let’s get beyond the art table)
- Reflect on how the environment and the selection and variety of materials support children to build relationships with the arts
- Understand the process of developing familiarity and connection with materials as part of creative learning and visible thinking
