Gari Yala - Speak The Truth (3-part series)
Gari Yala – Speak the truth (Wiradjuri) is a short series of workshops for those of you who are ready to take up the challenge of coming to the table to hear the truth about why it is so important to respectfully acknowledge Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples & cultures. To listen and hear how colonisation has impacted our people for generations and continue to this day! This 3-part series will not only be an honest conversation, and it will also provide you with the tools to implement and speak to the inclusion of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Cultures in your early childhood spaces. You as an ally will be sharing the responsibility to continue to embed and educate others while lightening the cultural load of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people who do this every day. This year’s theme for Reconciliation Week is ‘ALL IN FOR RECONCILIATION’, will you be?
You will be provided with a safe space to listen deeply, be vulnerable and to reflect openly. You will be empowered and inspired to drive reconciliation for future generations, be equipped to embody a zero-tolerance stance towards racism, understand the meaning of the 'cultural load' and whose responsibility it is to drive reconciliation forward, and how you can continue to walk into the future with purpose and as a good ancestor for generations to come.
