Documentation with Purpose - with Kelly Goodsir

Kelly Goodsir specialises in walking alongside educators, teachers and organisations as a pedagogical companion., strengthening the systems and approaches they adopt to deliver genuine and authentic educational programs for children. Exploring the ‘why’ of our approach to documentation will inform the ‘how’ and ‘what’ we document, therefore there is wisdom in thinking about the system you design for documentation.

Documentation is all around us, yet often we can narrow our approach to more formal observations, which we can over think and overwrite using the same methods week in and week out. This approach can result in documentation being more difficult than a pleasure to engage in.

Exploring the ‘why’ of our approach to documentation will inform the ‘how’ and ‘what’ we document. There is wisdom in thinking about the systems and tools we design for documenting learning so that our approach influences genuine and authentic opportunities for educators to write in meaningful ways.  This series will explore documentation as a living process that is engaged in slowly over time with purpose and through collaboration.  With plenty of case studies to ignite your thinking about what is possible, you will be sure to leave this session reimagining the role of documentation in your service.
