Culturally Responsive Trauma Informed Practice and Guided Reflection (4-part series)
Session 1
Reflexivity
1. Reflexivity – focusing on how ECE practitioners examine their own assumptions, and patterns of interaction, and how these shape engagement and decision-making with diverse children and families
Session 2
Relationality
2. Relationality – exploring how practitioners make sense of their experiences within social, interpersonal, and structural contexts, including how power, identity, and meaning influence help-seeking in diverse children and families.
Session 3
Responsiveness
3. Responsiveness – applying culturally responsive and trauma-informed practice principles that promote safety, cultural relevance, and adaptability in practice, with attention to tailoring approaches to the needs, backgrounds, and contexts of the children, families, and communities.
Session 4
Guided Reflection
4. Guided Reflection – this session will give educators the opportunity to check back in with the facilitators to share and work with children and families, work through challenges collaboratively, celebrate successes and learn from each other’s experiences. This will be an interactive session that will be driven by the reflections of the educators, intentionally designed to take place a few months after the professional learning sessions have taken place. Come ready to share and engage in meaningful learning and dialogue with and alongside peers!
