Gowrie NSW Centre Directors Networking Forum: A Recap of Growth and Connection

Gowrie NSW - Clemton Park

At the end of July, our Centre Directors and General Managers from Gowrie NSW came together in Sydney for a three-day Centre Director Networking Forum. It was an inspiring time of learning, reflection, and growth for all involved

Exploring Professional Knowledge Together

One of the key aspects of our professional development is the opportunity to visit other Early Education and Care Centres. This time, we were fortunate enough to spend a day at Goodstart Early Learning Narwee, where we immersed ourselves in their beautifully established learning environments, discussing and viewing their approach to planning and programming.

As a centre that values the impact of Primary Educator Relationships, it was inspiring to observe and reflect on various practices. We gained fresh insights into how these relationships support children's development and foster strong, nurturing connections.

A Warm Welcome

We were greeted by Centre Director Marie and Assistant Director Nikki, who guided us through their Nursery, Toddler, and Preschool rooms in small groups. Their hospitality made the visit memorable! As we toured, Gowrie NSW Centre Directors relished the opportunity to reflect and consider how the design of spaces and the purposeful programming support children’s learning and educators engagement.

Reflective Practice in Action

During our tour, we didn’t just observe practice; we actively engaged in critical reflection and robust discussion. A carefully designed reflective tool afforded Centre Directors the opportunity to note key takeaways, ideas, and questions from each space we explored. The tool helped guide our discussions following the visit, and helped identify and clarify what we saw, heard, and felt.

There’s something incredibly valuable about sharing ideas and hearing different perspectives. Each Centre Director brought forward reflections on the nursery, toddler, and preschool rooms—discussing everything from learning environments to educator practices. This collective reflection helped spark ideas that will flow into our own centres and educative offering.

A Step Forward in our Journey

The networking forum was a chance for our Centre Directors to reflect on their practice, gain new ideas, and take away fresh inspiration. By the end of the forum, we revisited each Centre vision for the next 12 - 18 months continuing our mission to create nurturing, inspiring learning environments for every child in our care.
