Gowrie NSW is very proud and excited to announce that Gowrie NSW Erskineville Outside School Hours Care has been rated as ‘Exceeding’ the national standards by the NSW Department of Education as the Regulatory Authority.
The Outside School Hours Care program, located in an inner-city suburb of Sydney, joins a small group of centres in the state of NSW that rate as ‘Exceeding’ the National Quality Standard which forms part of Federal Governments National Quality Framework commitment to raising quality and driving continuous improvement in education and care centres across Australia.
As of November 2016 just 15 per cent of Outside of School Hours Care programs assessed in NSW received an Exceeding rating by the Regulatory Authority, placing Gowrie NSW Erskineville OSHC in the top quartile of all centres in NSW.
Each State and Territory Regulatory Authority undertakes the assessment and rating process.
The educators at Gowrie NSW Erskineville OSHC were delighted with the outcome. “This result reassures and demonstrates to families the high level of commitment and standards we have in assuring high quality outcomes for children and provides confidence that their children are supported in all aspects of our program,” Centre Coordinator and Nominated Supervisor, Gayle Dodd, said.
The assessment measured the program based on the educational program and practice, children’s health and safety, physical environment, staffing arrangements, relationships with children, collaborative partnerships with families and communities, and leadership and service management.
“With this fantastic result we will be able to celebrate with the children and families to continue to build on this solid base in the future,” she added.
Gowrie NSW Erskineville OSHC has been operating over 20 years, offering before and after hours care and vacation care to school-age children. The centre provides a leisure based program for children attending Erskineville Public School providing an environment that encourages children to become active learners that encourages thinking, investigating, exploring and problem-solving between children and adults.
