Australia’s multicultural society is represented throughout the Early Childhood sector through the diversity of cultures and languages of children and their families. It is essential that educators working with these families understand and appreciate the importance of providing opportunities for responsive pedagogies and practices that acknowledge the significance of children’s home languages.

This workshop will explore ways in which educators can build on and make connections to the Early Years Learning Framework in relation to the principles, practices and learning outcomes outlined in the Framework with specific links to how practitioners can build on children’s cultural, linguistic and social capital to promote diversity, languages and cultural competence in early childhood settings.
